Writing a prescription
Prescriptions in Prvaha are created within the context of a patient’s consultation workflow. The workflow captures clinical information step-by-step — including vitals, diagnosis, and medications — and the completed workflow becomes the source of the printed prescription.1
Open the appointment
Navigate to Appointments in the sidebar and open the relevant appointment record. You can also reach it from the patient’s profile by clicking the appointment in their Appointments tab.
2
Start or continue the consultation workflow
Inside the appointment, click View Workflow (or open the workflow tracker) to access the consultation steps. Each step — such as Vital Signs, Diagnosis, and Medications — corresponds to a section of the prescription.
3
Complete the Medications step
Navigate to the Medications step (or the equivalent step configured for your clinic). This is where you add drugs, dosages, and instructions for the patient.
Drugs must be added to your clinic’s drug catalogue before they appear in the prescription form. Ask your clinic administrator to add any missing drugs at Dashboard → Drugs → New. See Clinic Management → Drugs for full instructions.
Adding drugs
Within the Medications step of the workflow, each drug is entered as a row in a structured table. For each drug you prescribe, fill in the following fields:
To add another drug, click Add Row (or the + icon) within the medications table and repeat the process. You can add as many drugs as needed within a single prescription.
Diagnoses
Attach one or more diagnoses to the consultation to provide clinical context for the prescribed medications. In the Diagnosis step of the workflow:1
Search for a diagnosis
Type the condition name into the diagnosis search field. Prvaha shows matching entries from your clinic’s diagnosis catalogue.
2
Select the correct entry
Click the matching diagnosis to attach it. You can attach multiple diagnoses if the patient presents with more than one condition.
3
Add custom diagnoses if needed
If a diagnosis does not appear in the search results, your administrator can add it at Dashboard → Diagnoses → New. Custom diagnoses can be created with or without a reference code.
Generating a PDF
Once the workflow steps are complete and saved, Prvaha can generate a formatted prescription PDF in one click.1
Open the workflow detail view
From the appointment record, open the workflow detail page. This shows all completed steps alongside a summary of the consultation.
2
Click Print / Download
Click the Print or Download button in the workflow header. Prvaha generates a PDF using your clinic’s prescription template, which includes:
- Your clinic’s name and branding
- The patient’s name, age, gender, and appointment ID
- The prescribed medications in a structured table
- The attending doctor’s signature line
- A QR code linking to the digital record (if enabled by your administrator)
3
Share with the patient
Save the PDF to your device and share it with the patient by printing a physical copy or sending it digitally via the messaging tools in the appointment.
The PDF layout is controlled by your clinic’s prescription template configuration. If you need to adjust the template structure — for example, to add or remove sections — contact your clinic administrator or refer to the Workflow configuration settings.
Prescription history
Every prescription generated from a completed workflow is permanently attached to that appointment record and is accessible from the patient’s profile.- Open the patient’s profile from Patients in the sidebar.
- Navigate to the Appointments tab.
- Click on any past appointment to view its workflow, including all prescribed medications and the associated PDF.
